  • 13 hours/week = the average time spent by 8-12 year olds playing video games

  • 14 hours/week = the average time per spent by 13-18 year olds playing video games
    >> 18 hours/week among boys
    >> 8 hours/week among girls

Who plays violent video games?

  • 90% of 13- to 18-year-old boys
  • 89% of 8- to 12-year-old boys
  • 62% of 13- to 18-year-old girls
  • 49% of 8- to 12-year-old girls

Side Effects
The study also linked excessive video game playing with:

  • performing poorly in school
  • getting into physical fights
  • being physically heavier
