For Discussion:
- What are your favorite church websites and why?

We have two sites that I love. Our church website @ http://www.passionchurch.tv and another outreach site @ http://www.passionstories.tv. The Passion Stories site is used by our members. They carry cards with their page address that leave on tables, at drive thrus, etc. to share their testimony. We hired a company here in OK to do the design and I think they did a great job. Thanks!
@Steve
I like the marketability of PassionStories.tv.
I think our web designer did a great job. REMiX501.com
Just redesigned our site. I think it is excellent. http://www.eaglebrookchurch.com
Ken – This is Mark Pierce, executive pastor at Crossroads Community Church in Mansfield, Ohio. Thanks for the list of top church websites. We are currently in the design stages of a much needed new website for our church. Your listing will be a valuable tool for us in making decisions. Thanks again for this site! – Mark
It’s hard to beat Mars Hill (Seattle) for look, functionality and content. http://www.marshillchurch.org
I love http://www.enewhope.org and http://www.mentoringleaders.com These IT guys know how to use their skill and their heart is seen in every page. Great LIVE service feeds too.
Kent, thanks for the note on Granger (I missed that one). You might also want to check out a non-denominational church I visited this summer in New Jersey – Liquid Church – I was impressed by its website (http://www.liquidchurch.com/pages/page.asp?page_id=24081)
Our site has won other “top site” listings. Check us out. I didn’t design it, so have no problem promoting it.
http://www.gcomchurch.com (Grace Community Church)
I think Gracepoint has a little more homey feel… not all too grungy or minimalistic, if that is something you’re loooking for.

Kent,
I’m embarrassed to say that my church website would probably be on the 90 worst websites for a church.
Your post has given me some help in what to look for when building a proper church website. Thank you.
Great post!
I find it interesting that most of the churches that have hip websites tend to bend towards a target audience that has a younger demographic. I’d love to get peoples ideas as to why this tends to be the case. I don’t think it is as simple as we think.
Next question, how do we engage this demographic within our walls? No doubt the younger generation is quick to embrace change and new technology. However, if we could engage the older demographics, imagine the ministry that would happen. They have life experiences and wisdom that we don’t have.
The church where I serve as Media Director has a large portion of our demographic between the ages of 35 – 65. For me, that creates new challenges as to how to engage, empower, and equip those that didn’t grow up with computers and the internet. As well, our demographics also effect our worship style – we are a careful mix of traditional and contemporary (something I am sure we are not alone with).
All this said, it took me 7+ months to define a new web identity that accurately communicates who Bethel is. I just launched it earlier this month: http://www.bethelipc.org. It’s still a work in progress and I am generally pleased with how it turned out, but I am also challenged to make it the usability experience easy for all ages.
Any advice?
Just redesigned our sight as well http://www.reimagechurch.com along with an entire name change and direction. The idea was to better display who we are and merge us with the next generation.
I believe strongly that generatelife.com should be in there
@Logan
I like GenerateLife.com, too. However, it is not a “church” site but a sub-ministry site of Crossroads Church. I’ve kept the list to only include “church” (overall) sites.
They all look great but is it just me or does it look like 7 of the first 11 you see the visuals of on this page look like the same designer did them all….with one large image at the top and 3 small ones on the bottom.
This obviously is the trend but would like to see it mixed up a bit
Excellent Church websites, great to see Christians catching on to web design and standards, another tool to spread the gospel of Christ
)
So many churches out there are seeing the need for great design these days. Finally! I really think your semi-definitive list of excellent church web sites has generated a lot of this groundswell. Thanks for giving folks the opportunity to see and appreciate such great examples of design!
We are about to launch our new site. We are pretty excited about it.. We put up a splash page to build the excitement with a countdown to the launch.
