Rural Church Conference :: The Sticks
Almost all church conferences and resources focus on doing church in the city or the suburbs. Now there is a church conference for rural ministry.
It is called The Sticks. And on November 11-12, 2008, up to 400 church leaders will gather in Loudonville, OH to learn about doing ministry in “the sticks.” Speakers include:
- Mark Batterson of National Community Church (Washington, DC)
- Charles Hill of New Hope Community Church (Loudonville, OH)
- Dwight Mason of NewPointe Community Church (Dover, OH)
- Shannon O’Dell of Brand New Church (Harrison, AR)
- Tim Stevens of Granger Community Church (Granger, IN)
- Barry Worcester of H2OChurch.tv (Ada, OK)

Interesting that the rural conference features megachurch pastors from the city. Not sure I follow that one…

Gene, I am with you on that. Mark Batterson….Washington DC…at a church conference about rural communities…doesn’t make any sense….

Hey all…great question!
One does not have to be a small town practitioner to bring value and learning to our conference. That is why we chose him to be here.
We go learn from the big town guys all the time and are very much inspired and educated, though it might not be our exact context.
Mark brings a message of risk, journey, taking advantage of opportunities that cross over all spectrum’s.
We have a great mix of leaders coming…most from small town environments. Great questions to ask!
Hope to see you all there!
