You too can learn a lot from other churches. When was the last time you got away from your own church to see what another church is doing? You will not only get some great ideas by visiting other churches, but you will also be inspired with innovative ideas of your own. Of course, be sure to visit churches that are making a difference. It does not matter how many churches you visit if they are all stagnant.
1. Marketing – If mailing postcards, Dave recommends mailing to each household 1-3 pieces for awareness and 4-6 pieces for action. Recently, they tried something new and launched a web-based campaign and also used door hangers and yard signs.
2. Inviting – CCC challenges its people to commit to bring three people.
3. Wow! – Lastly, they make sure to create a “Wow!” experience for first time guests.
He likes to switch up how they celebrate communion so that it doesn’t become a ritual but stays special to his congregation. His favorite way to celebrate communion is giving each member a communion bag containing a vial and tin which he has his congregation “hold them in their hand during the service as a way of preparing their hearts for the experience.”
One of the biggest pitfalls a congregation can face is losing their passion and reverence for what Jesus did. Be mindful of your ministry and purpose to avoid getting into ruts where people focus on the routine and not the meaning.
