Everyone’s life takes an unexpected turn every once and awhile. In my case, here’s how my life transitioned from pastoral ministry to technology ministry. From a young age, I knew I wanted to spend my life serving Jesus and His church. This desire led me to Bible college, seminary, and eventually into pastoral ministry in my early twenties.
My Personal Journey With Live Video Streaming
Though I absolutely loved pastoring, eventually that season came to an end for financial reasons. As my life took an unexpected turn, I began looking for ways to continue serving the church. Little did I know that such an opportunity would arise in technology.
Now, no one has ever used the word “techy” to describe me. Like so many other pastors, I see the merit of ministries using technology to reach people for Christ, but that wasn’t my gifting. Back then, if I was to spend a few minutes Googling how to get a church up and live video streaming, I’m pretty sure I would have started pulling out my hair after 10 minutes.
And then I got a phone call in the spring of 2013. One of my friends from my church back home was starting a live video streaming company and he wanted me to come on board to help customize their solution for churches. After praying about the opportunity, we decided to pack our bags and move our family from Nashville to Cleveland to begin in this exciting effort.
In the company’s early days, most of the streaming solutions on the market were customized for businesses and didn’t really meet the needs of churches. With that in mind, our team at BoxCast began tailoring an offering in a manner that would help any organization stream, especially churches. That way, when your average non-techy pastor like me would look into streaming, they could begin broadcasting without sweating bullets or making expensive missteps.
Speaking of finances, cost was a traditional roadblock for most churches when it came to streaming, as well. With this in mind, we worked hard to offer our solution at a price point that would fit into every ministry’s budget. And most importantly of all, we set off to create the highest quality and most customized solution, as well, allowing churches and organizations everywhere to share their message and ministry in the most excellent quality imaginable.
Fast forward this story a few years, BoxCast is now the leading streaming solution for churches and helps new ministries around the world broadcast their services and events essentially every minute of the day. Through the technology that BoxCast offers, I have been able to function within my passion to help serve both my Savior and His Church.
If your ministry is considering getting up and streaming, I’d love to help in any way that I can. Thanks so much for listening to my story and may God’s richest blessings be upon your ministry.
