Jesus’ Ministry Marketing (4 of 4) :: Two Big Lessons
2 Big Lessons from Jesus’ Ministry Marketing
Overall, two big lessons stand out to me from Jesus’ ministry marketing.
- Product is Priority.
Great products market themselves. Always be striving to improve your ministry. Above all else, strive to be more Christlike. - Maximize Your Distribution
Jesus was purposeful in reaching new people. I believe it is the church’s responsibility to utilize technology to maximize their reach.

I recently had a conversation with my pastor about this. I was trying to get him to get behind a more comprehensive marketing approach. He was a little old school and thought the church didn’t need marketing. What I told him was that in today’s world there is so much out there that is trying to hold the attention of people. Jesus does make the difference in lives and His message is ultimately what will save this world, but it’s a message that can only change lives if you’re listening. It’s our job as marketers within the church not to replace the message, but to get the attention of the people we’re trying to reach so that they can hear the message.

Very interesting thoughts. Jesus is the product, indeed.
As I read your series, I thought about what it means to be the Body of Christ, that is the physical representation of Jesus Christ on planet Earth.
I think it has a lot to do with training and sending individual members of local congregations out into the harvest/culture to represent not only the message of the Savior but the physical presence — the incarnation — of God and how he reacted to people on a physical level. After all, why did Jesus touch the leper?

If we have a good product, and we do in Jesus Christ, why would we hesitate to let people know about it. Jesus did many things to alert folks to His works. He ehaled the sick, fed the hungry, raised the dead, cast out spirits, confronted men reaady to kill a woman and generally stirred up a storm wherever He went.
Remember that hospitality is the best thing we can do to enhance our product. Our product is us. As we love, and care and help and listen and feed and … People are touched. I ran a large church counseling center for many years and we never, ever advertized in any way other than word of mouth. yet, we were overcome with visitors. Love is the greatest.
