According to a recent survey by the Leichtman Research Group:

  • 81% of all U.S. households have at least one computer
  • 53% of all U.S. households have a broadband high-speed Internet service
  • 72% of all home Internet subscriptions are broadband high-speed connections
    (up from 60% in 2006)
  • 7% of Internet subscribers say that broadband is not available in their area

Why is the growing popularity of broadband Internet important to the church?

  1. People are likely to use the Internet more often and much longer. Consequently, the necessity of online church communications grows with their usage.
  2. Church websites are able to be technically elaborate and sophisticated without losing a huge audience of dial-up users.
