Dave Ferguson, the lead pastor at Community Christian Church (Naperville, IL), shares the three keys to creating a big weekend at his church.
1. Marketing - If mailing postcards, Dave recommends mailing to each household 1-3 pieces for awareness and 4-6 pieces for action. Recently, they tried something new and launched a web-based campaign and also used door hangers and yard signs.
2. Inviting – CCC challenges its people to commit to bring three people.
3. Wow! - Lastly, they make sure to create a “Wow!” experience for first time guests.
To a first time guest, first impressions are everything. That’s why Springcreek Community Church in Garland, Texas began supplying plants, mints, and cologne on the counter in the men’s restroom.
It is amazing how restrooms can be a catalyst for word of mouth. People will tell their friends about the incredible restroom at the restaurant or hotel. Ambient lighting, a bowl of candy – these little details make a huge difference. It does not take much to stand out from the harsh fluorescents and sterile atmosphere of the typical bathroom. Of course, special details are worthless if your restroom is not properly cared for. Cleanliness is mandatory.
